Outreach/Education

Julia is an enthusiastic and unique science communicator and educator with experience doing outreach with all ages through invited talks, blogging, live video interviews, planetarium shows, mentoring, stand up comedy, engaging skits, and space cover songs/raps. She has experience in curating and evaluating outreach efforts. Julia is passionate about reaching and engaging diverse learners through her education and outreach efforts.

Because no two humans learn the same, Julia’s teaching pedagogy prioritizes inquiry-based, hands-on, project-based learning.

Her main outreach project, Space in Your Face!, combines art, music, and humor, to communicate topics within space-science. It has been running since 2013.

Julia is a science educator through the Ad Astra Academy, creating weeklong STEM workshops for underserved communities domestically and around the world. We implement inquiry-based, hands-on learning to empower youth to discover opportunities through science and exploration.
